Enviro Education

Take learning outside of the classroom!

A fantastic way to get out of school and into nature – with links to NZ curriculum!

The Y, together with Lloyd Esler and supported by the Les Hutchins Conservation Foundation, has put together a comprehensive environmental education resource to help you plan your trip to Omaui Camp.

Whether for a day trip, an overnight, or multi night stay, this resource comes with a wealth of information and activities for your students to engage in, that link to curriculum.

What’s included:

  • 54-page resource booklet, including information on Omaui history, activities, life cycles, food webs and succession, birds, plants and seashore guides, key information about your visit to Omaui Camp with suggestions for other activities, and suggested lesson planning with links to curriculum. This has been written by Lloyd Esler.
  • Health and safety booklet with information to support your Risk Management planning. This includes general information, but also specifics relating to activities onsite at Omaui Camp.
  • Two containers filled with items so you can undertake the activities in the booklet, and activity sheets. Or you can use the items however you wish!

Booking the resource

On booking your stay or a day at Omaui Camp you’ll have the option to add the Environmental Education package. This is an additional $100.

Once your booking is confirmed you’ll get a hard copy of the information resource, activity sheets, and a health and safety booklet to help with your planning.

When you come to collect the keys, you’ll also pick up the resource kits – two containers filled with items that relate to activities within the resource (or items you can use however you please!).

You’ll return the resource kit when you get back, but are welcome to keep your copy of the information resource for future visits.
