Why adventure-based learning works
Adventure-based learning encourages and supports young people to get out of their comfort zones, and to gain practical skills in teamwork, leadership and communication. It also inspires confidence – giving young people the opportunity to experience unique challenges to face and overcome.
It’s all completed in a supportive, engaging environment, where everyone is supported to have a go.
Previous programme participants said the skills they learned could help them in a range of ways in their daily lives:
It will help me be a better person in life.

Things such as outdoor education at school and also school camps, I feel much more confident and can share the skills I have learned with the juniors in the future.

The team work could help with my confidence with people I’m unfamiliar with.
