Fit & Fun with the Y

Fun, free weekly sessions in Mataura

Free weekly sessions to connect the community through physical activity.

Join the Y at The Bunker in Mataura every Wednesday during term time as we take the Community Connector to Eastern Southland.

Every week we’re there to help kids, rangatahi and whānau to have fun, with free sessions filled with games, activities and (a little bit of) fitness too!

The Y’s Community Connector is a large trailer, fully kitted out with all of the fitness and active play equipment you could want! Each week we get it all out for a couple of hours of fun – open to all ages and all abilities.

These weekly sessions are led by our trained youth worker and are all about giving tamariki, rangatahi and whānau the chance to get active while having fun together. There’s no pressure, just fun games and activities to get you moving – and you might even get some fitness out of it, too!

This project is supported by the team at The Bunker, who let us use their space in the winter terms, and provide free kai for all participants too – awesome!

Funded by the Tu Manawa Active fund, through Active Southland, there’s a focus on engaging children, young people and families in physical activity in a fun and inclusive way.
